Short Description:These natural handmade chopsticks are made from talipot palm (Corypha lecomtei) from the dry forests of Sangkae Community Forestry in Preah Vihear, Cambodia. Talipot palm is called Traing in Khmer language and Kcheng in indigenous Kuoy language. Talipot palm grows with a stout trunk up to six meters long and petioles even longer towering up to 25 meters. In Chinese Khmer belief, Traing sticks bring good luck and will keep away bad spirits because the god resides in the palm tree and will be present in the stick deterring bad spirits. The purchase of this item will support the community forestry business as well as help preserve and protect the traing trees, and ensure their sustainable harvest and management within the community forestry area.
